The bell rings, time to board the train that has already been running for 2 decades on this route! In the white and yellow carriages, we set off from Place du 8 Mai 1945 towards Rue du Temple.
The valiant little train begins its ascent to the heights of Collioure via the Chemin de la Galère. A winding path up through the terraced vineyards, home to the Collioure Banyuls vintage wine vineyards, offers you breathtaking scenery between the sea and the mountains, with views over the entire Roussillon plain.
The little train climbs to the top of Fort Saint Elme, and it takes a lot of power to negotiate this steep path! It’s a surprising journey, the road is steep, we pass right by the vineyards, we meet people along the way, and we discover some exceptional views up in the heights of Collioure!
As we pass through the terraced vineyards and reach the foot of the fort, we pause to admire the panoramic view that stretches from the coastline and the bay of Collioure to the Roussillon plain and the Pyrenees. “
Then we head back down towards Port-Vendres”, before then going along the docks of this small commercial port. The return journey takes you along the corniche, with breathtaking views of the rocky coastline and its coves.
