We enter through the museum’s small inner courtyard, and the Parc Pams, a lush green park that’s both rejuvenating and soothing, stretches out before us ! We’re then transported by the stories and anecdotes told to us by the museum guide, a fascinating account of the exhibition we’re seeing – the time flies by!
From 2025, the museum will be closed for renovation.
A project to extend the museum is on the cards, with a new format, more exhibition spaces, a special shop area and a cultural mediation space. We can’t wait to see it!
Collioure Modern Art Museum, a place of artistic inspiration and a haven of peace !
The museum, the artistic legacy of the painter Jean Peské ❤️
Immersion at the heart of the museum
When you enter the museum, you discover a timeless place.
You’re standing in a small, courtyard full of greenery, with the Parc Pams on the far side leading to the mill.
On the inside, you’ll come across a very wide range of art, a well-crafted mix of artists from diverse backgrounds and nationalities. The exhibition takes you through the different eras and stories about life for the locals of Collioure.
The added bonus of the exhibition is the guided tour led by the Museum Guide. By adapting to all audiences, she turns the tour into a fascinating story that you are not likely to lose interest in, and you come away each time with a new perception of the artistic life of Collioure, even if you’re not particularly keen on art!
In the shop you’ll find a selection of products, François Bernadi’s sketchbooks, jewellery, books on history and art, Toiles du soleil totebags, etc… Great souvenirs to take home with you.
The visit isn’t over yet, as we now find ourselves in the cloister garden, a real haven of peace, where we take a moment to fully appreciate the place.
It’s easy to imagine Gaston Pams strolling through his Mediterranean garden.
The gallery on the cloister side features works by artists who live and work in the Occitanie region.
