The "Vitrine sur le Fauvisme" is a place of resources, education and encounters dedicated to Fauvism and the history of Collioure. Cultural mediators will accompany you as you discover the town's artistic and historical heritage during guided tours led by enthusiasts.

The starting point for every visit, this not-to-be-missed cultural space is also a shop where you'll find a wide selection of specialist books as well as reproductions of the works of Henri Matisse and André Derain.

Whether you're an enthusiast or simply curious, let yourself be surprised and come along for a stroll to discover Art and History… The "Vitrine sur le Fauvisme" offers cultural experiences to explore all the city's heritage treasures, as well as parent/child art workshops. These activities are available for individuals or groups. Please contact the "Vitrine sur le Fauvisme" or the Tourist Office for more information.

  • Le Chemin du Fauvisme – Colour as absolute        

In the footsteps of Matisse and Derain, relive the summer of 1905 and the luminous history of Fauvism in Collioure. In this open-air museum, discover how these two painters made Collioure their laboratory for pictorial experimentation in the service of pure colour. Stroll through the narrow streets of this village, which went from being a fishing port to a painters' town in the early 20th century.

The Maison du Fauvisme offers parent-child art workshops. Collage, painting, decoupage, indoors or overlooking the bay of Collioure, enjoy a 4-handed creative experience!

You can also follow "Le Chemin du Fauvisme" (The Fauvist Trail) and explore reproductions of works from the famous summer of 1905 at your own pace. A booklet (€6) is provided.


With its educational programme, the Vitrine sur le Fauvisme also welcomes schoolchildren from nursery to high school to introduce them to the liberating pictorial movement that is Fauvism. The cultural mediators invite pupils to wander around the town and discover the works on the Chemin du Fauvisme, to paint in the style of the Fauvists during an educational workshop and to become keen observers during a treasure hunt.
