Red and orange leaves cover the walls of the façades, the intense autumn light illuminates the bay, autumn is here!
We’re happy to wander the narrow streets and take in the autumn atmosphere, with a few cultural stops suggested by the “Collioure, the journey begins” application!
Experience a wine tour!
The vines are covered in warm colours, the grapes have just been harvested, this is a key season for the vineyard!
Curious about this know-how, we go on a wine tour through the vineyards, to learn about the work of the vines on the Collioure Banyuls vintage wine, the PDO appellation area and many other little secrets from our guide!
The final step is a wine tasting to immerse yourself in the knowledge of wine, a “sacred product” of the Vermeille coast!
Take a stroll through the shimmering streets of Le Mouré!
We love strolling through the narrow streets of Le Mouré, surrounded by all the colours of autumn! Yellow, red, orange.
The light showcases the narrow streets! The calmness of the streets also allows us to lose ourselves and venture into places we’re not used to!
"Wandering around, getting lost, keeping your eyes open and letting yourself be amazed are all wonderful surprises"
Test the “Collioure, the journey begins!” app
We combine our stroll through the Le Mouré district with a spot of culture thanks to the “Collioure, the journey begins” application.
With the phone turned horizontally, a notification appears on our phone at each point of interest. The audio explanations are captivating, and the descriptions of the paintings plunge us into the world of Fauvism.
A great activity to do at the end of the day in autumn, when the light is not too intense and you’re in a peaceful spot.
For greater comfort, remember to take headphones 🎧
Let’s go for a swim!
Much to our delight, the sea is still very warm!
Take a dip at one of Collioure’s beaches or head out to sea to explore Cap Béar or Cadaquès by the coast, or do both to make your holiday last a little longer!
Making the most of the current festivities
Families are in for a treat at the “petites scènes” during the autumn school holidays, with shows for people of all ages, including theatre, dance and workshops for the little ones!
On the first weekend of the autumn school holidays, we never miss the autumn antique fair held either at the Château Royal or in the Faubourg. It has become a tradition for us, even if we’re not experts in the field!
Admire the autumn colours in the open air!
Setting off early in the morning from the village of Collioure, our ascent is drawing to a close.
We pause at the top of Fort Saint Elme, where a golden light illuminates the Gloriette, the Mill and the bay of Collioure. The vines reveal pigmented shades of yellow, orange and red. A highly soothing and rejuvenating moment of contemplation!
On the coastal path, there’s a change of atmosphere as we dip our feet in the water at Oille beach. It’s a real treat as the sea is still very warm! Another advantage at this time of year is that the coastal path is much less crowded!
As for the Tour Madeloc, it offers a panoramic view of the Vermeille coast in the thousand colours of autumn.
The Ermitage de Consolation, with its beautiful, shimmering countryside and vineyards, plunges us into the calm and easy-going atmosphere of autumn.
Explore the vineyards by tourist train!
Exploring up through the vineyards in autumn, with the orange hues of autumn, is an unmissable experience!
We board the little tourist train at Place du 8 Mai 1945, and it begins its ascent to arrive in the middle of the vineyards surrounded by shades of yellow and orange – you could almost touch them!
We continue our ascent to the top of Fort Saint Elme, where the light is incredible and the view from the top is breathtaking. We head back towards Port Vendres before returning to Collioure. A lovely autumn-coloured train journey!
Visiting the monuments!
In autumn, you can still enjoy guided tours of the Château Royal, guided walks around the town or the museum! The cultural scene is still very much alive.
The guided tours are all fascinating, and the guides provide an incredible experience, so much so that you can imagine yourself standing next to Henri Matisse and André Derain or on the rampart walk with the kings of Majorca at the Château Royal!
Add to your stay with a guided tour of the Fauvism Trail and a guided tour of the Château Royal to discover the fascinating history of this unique site.
To top it all off, we’ll be tasting Collioure anchovies to learn more about this historic know-how, and we’ll also give in to the temptation of a tasting of PDO Collioure wines to breathe in the salty, woody notes and taste this wine with character!
Sample the local cuisine!
Then we’re off on the culinary trail of Collioure!
- Tasting of Collioure anchovies in the 2 historic establishments: Anchois Roque and Anchois Desclaux. Good to know – at Anchois Desclaux, there’s a film showing just before the tasting.
- PDO Collioure wine tasting at the Cave Coopérative de Collioure, where you can breathe in the salty, woody aromas and taste this typical, local wine.
- At the end of our visit, we buy some crunchy almond biscuits, accompanied by a glass of Banyuls to really make the most of them. We learned a lot about the historic know-how that makes up the identity of this village!
