Paintings by Cristina Fonollosa and Exhibition ‘In the footsteps of the poet Antonio Machado’ by the Master INTERVALES – UPVD in partnership with the Antonio Machado Foundation
Born in Barcelona in 1951, Cristina Fonollosa is a painter, engraver and illustrator who occupies a prominent place among the most representative visual artists of her generation: both for her varied and authentic themes and for her international reach. With her naïve style, also known as primitive, she reinterprets the imaginary of life from an original, fantastic and poetic perspective, expressing love, abandonment, desire, solitude and play. Her subjects range from family scenes of mothers with children to Mediterranean island landscapes, biblical scenes, invented mermaids from Caribbean folklore or rare cats, planets or animals. Her illustrations and engravings have also accompanied works and stories by Spanish and Latin American writers. In particular, she has depicted the lives of poets, including Antonio Machado, in the ‘aleluyas’ style.
Cristina Fonollosa's paintings are accompanied by the exhibition ‘In the footsteps of the poet Antonio Machado, a shared memory’. The exhibition was produced by students in the Master 2 Heritage Professions programme at the University of Perpignan, under the guidance of Virginie Soulier, lecturer in museology, and with the collaboration of the Antonio Machado Foundation in Collioure. This excellent university project highlights the life and work of the famous poet through the vicissitudes of twentieth-century history, reaching out to a wide audience.

- 4/ ‘Portraits de Femmes’ exhibition by Agnès Nattier Foucher until 13 April
Discover the ‘Portraits de femme’ exhibition.
Painter Agnès Foucher Nattier has been living in Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet for a number of years. Attracted by this region of striking beauty, she draws her inspiration from the wild nature and unique light of the landscape.
Her painting is an intimate expression of her emotions: ‘It's often difficult for me to explain my work. My hands act on the canvas by themselves, freeing my mind’.
From 26 January to 13 April 2025, his exhibition at the Château Royal in Collioure will feature some sixty paintings created over the last twenty years. At the heart of this collection are portraits of women from near and far, each with a unique story to tell.
Deeply affected by injustice and violence, particularly that suffered by women, Agnès Foucher Nattier's art holds up a mirror to our times. Faithful to an authentic approach, she works with natural materials – wood, linen, raw pigments – in perfect harmony with nature, a relationship she considers essential to her artistic approach.
It's an invitation to discover a vibrant and committed world, imbued with humanity and sincerity.
