At the Collioure media library, everything has been designed to ensure that readers, art lovers and the simply curious find their share of cultural nourishment. Colliourencs have taken their first steps in the new media library, a palace of clarity, comfort and a wealth of information in the image of civilisation without frontiers. "We're going to imagine readers on their own, the elderly, families or bits of chu, all of whom, with their diversity and richness, will be welcomed in this place", explains the enthusiastic Martine Ravel, librarian relayed by Bénédicte Parsi-Peret, coordinator under the direction of Maryse Parra.
A number of areas await you, including a children's corner with the inevitable parent-baby area, a corner where teenagers can immerse themselves in their favourite comics, access to the digital media library, a gateway to the whole world, an area dedicated to fiction and novels that can be devoured on the spot or taken away, and Collioure requires an 'Artelier' corner for art practitioners. There's also a piano for everyone to use.
Younger visitors can also play a wide range of board games, hosted by Cédric.
Upstairs, you'll find the famous desk of writer Patrick O'Brian, "in all its humility and austerity," explains Elen Hall Turner, president of the Friends of Patrick O'Brian association. It makes you want to get to know the novelist's world even more.
As for Antonio Machado, he has not been forgotten: the second floor is dedicated to him, much to the delight of the people of Collioure, as well as representatives of the Antonio Machado Foundation, Mercédes Cuesta and others.
