Venture inside the “Vitrine sur le Fauvisme” in Collioure, a venue devoted to the world-famous Fauvism art movement!

In one single venue, you’ll find 3 equally fascinating cultural experiences, a cultural shop, the departure point for guided tours and a touch-screen terminal!

The Fauvism Trail

From the “Vitrine sur le Fauvisme”, embark upon the Fauvism Trail, a route lined with reproductions of Henri Matisse and André Derain paintings in the places where the originals were created!

Three ways to explore the Fauvism trail !

  • Follow in the footsteps of Henri Matisse and André Derain and discover the story of their encounter with Collioure on a guided tour led by the Vitrine sur le Fauvism’s guides.
  • A self-guided tour with the “Fauvisme trail” booklet sold at the tourist office or at the “Vitrine sur le Fauvisme” for €6
  • Using theCollioure, the journey begins” application, some of the works are commented on, while other audio/film presentations will tell you unusual anecdotes about the life of the artists or the Collioure of yesterday !

The Church Notre-Dame-des-Anges (17th century)

The Church Notre Dame des Anges, Collioure’s most emblematic monument !

Bell tower, lighthouse, church – words fail to describe the Church Notre Dame des Anges ! 

With its foundations bathed in the waters of the Mediterranean, its medieval bell tower, its magnificent Baroque-Catalan altarpieces covered in gold leaf, the church is an astonishing monument, known across the globe !

The Saint-Vincent Chapel

Built in 1701 for the arrival of the new relics of Saint Vincent, who according to legend had suffered martyrdom on the rock where the chapel was built. From the Saint Vincent chapel, you have a beautiful view of the open sea and the faubourg.

The little tourist train

From the Place du 8 Mai 1945, the little train climbs up through the terraced vineyards to the heights of Collioure and Fort Saint-Elme. The route continues down to Port-Vendres along the docks and corniche, with breathtaking views of the Rocky Coast and its coves.

The Château Royal

The Château Royal, a must-see when you arrive in Collioure!

With its foundations plunging into the sea, the Castle of Collioure is a superb citadel that cannot be missed!
Choose from the self-guided or guided tours (full tour 2 hours / presentation 30-45min) to discover this castle steeped in history, which was listed as a historic monument in 1922.

The Collioure Modern Art Museum

Another of Collioure’s artistic hotspots is the Modern Art Museum !

When we arrive at the museum, we are greeted with a timeless place with its Pams garden, a place of contemplation and inspiration.
Two exhibitions are organised each year.

The Mill

The Mill of the Cortina (13th century) is the oldest mill in the department. Once a grain mill, it was converted into an oil mill in 2001. In the peak season, there are tours on Wednesday and Sunday mornings.

Fort Saint Elme

The Fort was built by Charles Quint in 1538. This stronghold was the central element in the defensive system of the coast and Perpignan against the French armies. This private monument is currently closed to visitors.

Le Mouré, neighbourhood

Le Mouré, a visit to these peaceful districts, with authentic streets lined with flowers, is a must. Getting lost in its tangled streets is the best way to explore this area.

The coves and beaches

On our arrival, we put down our suitcases, we’re right on the water’s edge! From the centre of the village, you can see Boramar beach, Saint-Vincent beach, Port d’Avall beach and La Balette beach. The beach is a mere stone’s throw from where we’re staying !

Walks and Hikes

When we set off on the coastal path, we discovered a fantastic playground for discovering the Vermeille coast! We overlook the sea down below as we pass from cove to cove, walk around vineyards and through picturesque villages such as Le Racou, Collioure, Port Vendres, Banyuls-sur-mer and Cerbère…

From the heights of Collioure, there is a magnificent panoramic view of the village. Climb up the Madeloc tower and you’ll discover a 360-degree panoramic view of the Vermeille coastline!
