Audio: destination Collioure 1905
We’re standing in front of the former Hôtel de la Gare in the Rue Aristide Maillol and we’re told about Henri Matisse‘s arrival in Collioure.
Painting “Derain, composition”
We’re on the Boramar, admiring the view, and the application invites us to put ourselves in André Derain’s shoes to better understand his work ‘Le Faubourg de Collioure’. It’s a fascinating read! We clicked on the drone view, and a beautiful walk from the sky opened up before us.
Audio “Notre Dame des Anges : a Baroque treasure”
We continue our tour along the Boulevard du Boramar, at the foot of the Notre-Dame des Anges church, let the audio guide guide our way and finish our navigation of this point of interest with the drone view!
Audio “A landscape steeped in history”
The walk continues at the start of the dike that leads to the chapel of Saint-Vincent, and you’ll learn a lot thanks to the audio on the app! The drone view takes us through the streets of Le Mouré, with a glimpse of the bay.
Audio “One neighbourhodd may hide another!”
Following on from rue Miradou, we reach the beautiful rue des Caranques – the drone view from here is incredible!
Painting “Matisse, la composition”
At the start of the rue des Caranques, we came across a reproduction of Henri Matisse’s “Les toits de Collioure”, and immersed ourselves in his work.
Audio “An artistic adventure on the street corner”
As the streets of Pasteur, Egalité, Butte and Degrés weave their way through the town, you can admire the narrow streets and listen to the fascinating history of Fauvism!
Reading landscapes: “from the pier”
We stand at the end of the pier, unlocking the automatic rotation to take in the 360° view. A landscape reading of the main monuments is offered to us with an audio explanation.
Audio “dive into a palette of colours”
At the end of the jetty, you can see the bay in its entirety, while we tell you the story of the artists who came to paint Collioure and its incredible light.
Audio: Le Boramar, witness to centuries of history
We’re at the foot of the castle, looking out over the beach, the sea wall and the sea. The audio talks about fishing.
Audio: Collioure, a land of exile or refuge?
This time, we’re at the foot of the château with a view of the suburb and the hills, and the audio explains Collioure’s parallel with Spain.
Film: Collioure in former times
We are in the centre of the Faubourg beach, where we are about to watch the film ‘Collioure autrefois’ (Collioure in former times), a film retracing the history of the area. A key point of interest not to be missed! ‘The story begins with a view of today’s faubourg beach, seen from its southern end. This gradually disappears to make way for the beach as it was in the 1900s. It then flashes back over ten centuries of Collioure’s development, showing in particular the evolution of its town planning and economic activity.
Painting : Derain and Matisse, a touch of colour
We are on the quayside of the Port d’Avall beach, opposite the estate agency. ‘In Collioure, Matisse set up his studio on the first floor of the building just behind you, above the estate agency.’
Audio: an artistic destiny
We are standing in front of the Faubourg beach at the western end of the car park. ‘You’re looking at Matisse’s red beach. La plage du faubourg, as we call it here.’
Audio: reading the architectural layers
We walk along the quay until we reach the point of interest. ‘Although it only features in his painting ‘Le Port d’Avall’, was Matisse impressed by the royal castle that divides the town into two parts? The castle as he knew it dates back to Vauban, but the building has evolved over the centuries.’
Audio: The Dominican: an eventful history
We’re standing in front of the Dominican convent (route de Port-Vendres). What is the history of this convent? Listen to the audio to find out.
Audio: once upon a time there was a museum
We’re standing in front of the museum entrance, where we’re being told the history of the museum!
Audio: a walk on the Pams hill
We are on the promenade that leads from the Museum of Modern Art to the mill. We listen to the audio: ‘These woods evoked by Matisse are mainly populated by cork oaks, the ones from which corks are made… But be careful, a cork has to be earned!’
Reading landscapes: From la Glorietta
We’re at La Gloriette, admiring the view. We unlocked the automatic rotation to observe the 360° landscape. A landscape reading of the main monuments is offered to us with an audio explanation.
